Muffie, Ronald Peter Sr., 82, Cresson, passed away June 21, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 20, 1935, in Gallitzin, son of the late Peter and Ann (Kos) Muffie. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann (Buck) Muffie, and sister-in-law, LaVern Buck. Survived by children: Kathleen and Rick Witt, Mary Ann and Jeff Casale, Linda and Joe Spahr, Lisa and Darren Stombaugh, Ronald and Dina Muffie, Amy and Mike Ebersole, Susan and Mike Wyland, and Thomas and Kim Muffie; 19 grandchildren: Arina Witt; Matt, Sarah, Andy, Adam and Dana Casale; Gabby, Zack and Noah Spahr; Kristen and Blake Dunlevy; Austin, Ashley and Lucas Muffie; Allie and Maddy Ebersole; Ben, Hannah and Sam Wyland; and Josh and Emily Muffie; 3 great-grandchildren; Grant, Calvin and Joyelle Dunlevy; brothers and sisters-in-law: Greg and Patricia Muffie, Pete and Ingrid Muffie, Paul Buck, Nancy Buck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron graduated from Gallitzin High School in 1953 and attended St. Francis College on a basketball scholarship, where he earned a B.S. degree in Biology. During his years at St. Francis, the team earned wide acclaim when they advanced to the NIT Final Four at Madison Square Garden, New York. Upon graduation, he worked for Wyeth/Ayerst Pharmaceuticals, and retired after 40 plus years. His greatest loves were his family, gardening, cooking, golfing and attending sporting events. Also dear to his heart were his friends at "Morning Coffee Club",friends and associates at Thompson Pharmacy, and St. Francis University. Ron had been a member of many volunteer and civic organizations including: Penn Cambria School Board, Cambria County Transit Authority, Admiral Peary Vo-Tech Board, Lion's Club, Cresson Area JC's, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Alpha Pi Delta Brother, Cresson Borough Council, and a proud member of Summit Country Club, Cresson. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Rev. Carl Spishak. Committal, church cemetery. www.cmkennedyfh.com
