Betteann Dowd, 78, of Bonita Springs FL, peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL. She was born in Troy, NY. Betteann was the daughter of the late Edmund (Hobby) and Betty A. (Beth) Derkowski Dalton and was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Dowd for over 52 years. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School (Troy, NY) class of 1960 and St. Peter's Hospital School of nursing in Albany, NY. Betteann and Tom were married on October 26, 1968. Betteann had been a nurse for over 34 years. She worked at several hospitals in Boston, MA and at the former Leonard Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital both in Troy, NY. Betteann enjoyed traveling with her husband Tom on many cruises and to their favorite island of St. Maarten. She was a communicant of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL, and had volunteered at the Cafe of Life. She truly enjoyed her time playing golf, mahjong and many of the other activities at Worthington County Club of Bonita Springs. She was an amazing mother to Deborah "Debi" Dowd and Jennifer Dowd (Todd) Marquart, both of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by one nephew and several godchildren. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m., January 22, 2021 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 28290 Beaumont Rd, Bonita Springs, FL 34134. Betteann was laid to rest in the Columbarium Wall - Niche at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
