Norma Kunzler Gessel

Norma Kunzler Gessel passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021, at her home in South Jordan, Utah, at the age of 94. Norma was born on January 24, 1926 in Willard, Utah. Norma was the daughter of John Jacob Kunzler and Frieda Maria Mier. Norma spent her childhood in the Willard, Brigham City, and Park Valley, Utah communities. She attended Utah State University, where she met her husband of 72 years, William Boyd Gessel. They were married on November 19, 1948 in the Logan Temple. Her three daughters survive her. Sherrlyn Osborn (Dave) of Herriman, Utah, Robin Ann Morgan (Michael) of Snowville, Utah, and Debra Kae Nelson (Laney) of South Jordan, Utah. Norma was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Norma was a gifted elementary school teacher of 35 years. When she was not serving her family, you could find her in the family history center doing genealogy. Norma’s faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the hallmark of her life here on this earth. We mourn the loss of our loving matriarch but rejoice as we envision her reunion with her husband Boyd, who preceded her eight months prior. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Providence cemetery at 1:00 PM.
