It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen Elizabeth Sydora (Nee: Tymchuk) who was called into the arms of our Lord on January 16, 2021 while receiving care at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.  She lived a life of love and compassion for all of her 67 years.

   Maureen was born on July 30, 1953 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  She was raised with a high regard for family, faith and caring.  She blossomed into a lovely and graceful young lady who won the heart of a charismatic young man, Donald Alex Sydora.  They pledged their love in holy matrimony on October 27, 1973 and were later blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Candace, whom they cherished and nurtured with an unconditional love. 

   She experienced much in life with countless successes and more than her fair share of challenges and heartache but she focused on the silver linings in each dark cloud and inspired her family to be optimistic and kind.  She loved to cook for those she loved and pass on her special recipes along with a good joke and warm and enthusiastic hug.  She enjoyed dressing-up and stepping onto the dance floor, taking a stroll in the great outdoors, gardening, quiet moments in her backyard and every hour spent with her precious family.  She would want us all to remember her fondly and often with every loving and affectionate Baba-hug and with her motto of “Do it now and get if over with”.  May she find peace among the angels and know that she will live forever in our hearts and our cherished memories.

   Left to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life include her famiy: her beloved husband, Donnie Sydora; her precious daughter, Candace (Stan Puddester) Sydora; her cherished grandchildren, Kasea and Brayden; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and her many friends.

   The private memorial service honouring her life will be held at a later date when our pandemic restrictions are lifted.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
