Willie Lee Boyd Farmington, New Mexico Obituary

Willie Lee Boyd

W. L. (Bill) Boyd was born on June 21, 1931 in Ada, Oklahoma to Ellis and Margrett Boyd and rejoined his Lord on January 19, 2021. He honorably served his country serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and miraculously survived enemy attack without injury on what became known as Pork Chop Hill. He met his true love, Marie Turner (his Darling), in Oklahoma City and they were married on July 17, 1951. The couple would faithfully follow God's call as Pastor Boyd led congregations in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico over more than five decades. A blessing in Pastor Boyd's life was his son, Mack, who also assisted in ministry during his youth. Pastor Boyd is vibrantly remembered by his family for the near constant joy he expressed in everyday situations: unceasingly praising the Lord, reciting scripture and softly singing hymns. A minister of God's love to everyone he met, Pastor Boyd only knew friends; and no one was a stranger to him. He continued his ministry following formal retirement and never ceased visiting, praying with and inspiring the brothers and sisters in Christ found in an oft visited retirement community, his church, a store, or on any street or sidewalk.
Bill treasured spending time with his family and church friends, enjoying food and games together-cards, 42 and train domino games-all with uplifting laughter. He deeply loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and being involved in everything that they did.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the many staff at Cedar Ridge Inn who welcomed and cared for Pastor Boyd over the years, first as a servant of God and ultimately as a resident in his last days. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife and seven sisters. Survivors include his sisters Julia Hall of Oklahoma City and Clista Larabee of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his son and daughter-in-law Mack and Liz Boyd of Farmington, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services will be officiated by Jeral Dickenson at CopperRidge Church on Saturday January 23, 2021 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and funeral at 11:00 a.m.
Bill's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute Street in Farmington, New Mexico (505) 325-8688. You may share condolences with the family on our website: www.serenityandcompany.com http://www.serenityandcompany.com.
