Franklyn J Freeman
Franklyn Jensen Freeman, 86, of Basalt, passed away Monday January 18, 2021 at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls. Frank was born on November 6, 1934 to Lorin Farr Freeman and Dolores Jensen in Basalt, Idaho. He attended school in Firth and graduated from Firth High School in 1953. As a teenager, he met Nancy Jane Scrimsher at a roller-skating rink. They were married May 13, 1955 in Bone, Idaho and moved to Sacramento, California in 1957 in order for Frank to find work. He began a career in the construction field, where he labored for 30 years as a foreman before retiring. Frank and Nancy thoroughly enjoyed their much-earned retirement and spent many wonderful years together doing their favorite activities. They spent their winters in California and their summers in Idaho, before permanently moving to Basalt in 1992. Besides his love of spoiling his grandkids, he enjoyed traveling and flying his plane. He also loved spending time at “The Lot” in Island Park, Idaho where he spent his time fishing, camping, four wheeling, playing Pinochle, and attending family reunions. Frank loved to take family and friends out on his fishing boat. Frank and Nancy often traveled and even made it to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, and Japan. They made countless trips to visit grandchildren and relatives in many states. Frank lived to serve others. His many years in the construction industry gave him the ability to build or fix just about anything. He would do whatever he could to help someone in need. Frank kept so busy serving others after he retired that he once made the comment, “I need to go back to work just to get a break!” Frank is survived by his three children, Frank Lynn (Annette) Freeman of Wood Heights, MO, Corey Lee Freeman of Basalt, ID and Karin (Brady) Scott of Firth, ID; brothers Jerry Freeman of Basalt, ID and Richard Freeman of Nevada. Frank loved each of his 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nancy, and daughter-in-law Lori Freeman. At Frank’s request there will be no services. His ashes will be buried at the Basalt Cemetery. Frank was loved by his children, grandchildren, and many others.
