Edward Joseph Klein Obituary

Edward E.J. (Chuck) Klein passed away due to natural causes on Monday, January 18, 2021 at his home in Metairie, Louisiana.  He was born October 2, 1921 and was a native New Orleanian.  He was predeceased by his wife Abbie Klein, parents, Edward J. Klein, Sr. and Hattie Bares Klein and brothers, John Bares Klein, MD, Russel Charles Klein, MD and his sister-in-law, Donna G. Klein. He is survived by his three children, Donna Caronna, Maria Brechtel and Paul Olavarrieta, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. E.J.led a very long and interesting life. After graduating from St. Aloysius High School in 1938, E.J. was a Merchant Marine during WWII, a food salesman, bartender and a restaurant owner among many other things. He was a proud member of the Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club and was also a loyal volunteer at Metairie Manor Senior Citizen Center. After he retired, he traveled across the US and Canada with his wife Abbie Klein.

He will be sadly missed.

Immediate family members are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11 AM on Friday, January 22, 2021 in the J. Garic Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Interment to follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery.

Respectful of current guidelines, visitors please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
