Anna Jane Burris Rylee Obituary

Anna Jane Burris Rylee, self-described as the Cutest Person in Benton County, exited stage left in the early morning hours of January 17, 2021. Anna Jane bounded into the world on January 9th, 19😁. Born to Earl & Lois Reed Burris of Russellville, Arkansas, she would be the younger sister to Earlene. It was with the arrival of younger siblings Jack, Gary and Linda that Anna Jane would cement herself as the outspoken, confident, loving, creative, spotlight loving, grand entrance giving, child with the moniker of being “The Cutest”, a title that served her appropriately through every stage of her life. As a young adult, Anna’s gift for gab was a skill that served her well as a telephone operator in Russellville. She went on to work at the Boston Store in Fort Smith and ultimately alongside her husband of 69 years, Dee Rylee, at their company Dee Rylee Oil. Dee was George to Anna’s, Gracie. They were a pair perfectly matched. He not only loved her, he dotingly lifted her up, always reminding her to “Put your lips on and brush your hair, Anna” wanting her to shine in her best light. Together, they reared two boys, Jeff & Kent. Anna’s quirky humor and love of family was immortalized in their family-owned service station, “Jiffy Kwik”, named such that the spelling of each word began with a J & K honoring their boys Jeff & Kent. Anna was a faithful member of Rogers Central United Methodist Church for 65 years, where fortunately or unfortunately she was never asked to be a member of the choir. It should be noted that she was always ready to serve and make a questionably joyful noise unto the Lord. Our family mourns the passing of Anna Jane and the void she leaves on the stage of life. She was a real-life character, like none other. She was the first to call you to belt an out-of-tune rendition of Happy Birthday. And God love you if you were ever the one to have the honor of her showing up in person, wearing her tap shoes and having her 3x3 square board to tap dance on at the ready, so she could serenade you with well wishes. Anna was guaranteed to not only show up, but to show out! What those of us who knew her well, knew, is that she didn’t do it just because she loved the spotlight, and it her. But, it was the gift of love, smiles and memories that she gave to us, the audience of her life. Many of us are left with stories of “that time Anna did ________.” And we are the better for Anna parading out her love and spirit for us to dine on. Brava Anna! You have truly left us wanting more. Anna Jane Burris Rylee was preceded in death in 2019 by her husband, Dee. She is survived by two sons Jeff Rylee and Jo Speitel of Rogers, Kent Rylee and wife Amy of Rogers; five grandchildren Luke Rylee, Jake Rylee and wife Kalie, AnneDee Rylee, Abby Rylee, Mona Speitel and great grandchild Carter Speitel.
