<p>It is with broken hearts that the family announce the passing of Jane Mary Crawford, which occurred at her late residence Rocmaura Nursing Home on Monday, January 18, 2021. Born in Tracadie-Sheila, December of 1938, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah (Lebreton) Saulnier. Jane moved to Saint John in 1954 at the age of 16 without knowing a word of English. As a young woman, she worked at Saint Joseph&rsquo;s Hospital, and later married Alvin in 1963. She loved to cook and bake, and her door was always open to family and friends. There was always room at the kitchen table for anyone who dropped by for lunch, supper, or just tea and something sweet accompanied by long conversation and many hearty laughs. Jane was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Parish in the South End of Saint John and enjoyed volunteering for bake sales and singing in the choir. As her daughters grew, Jane studied to become a Home Care Support Worker and worked with ComCare for a time where she made many dear friends. Jane is survived by her daughters Kathleen Kays (Frank) of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Christina MacDonald of Saint John; grandchildren Christopher Waddell (Larissa), Alecia Fraser (Tyler), Derek Waddell, Jordan MacDonald (Haley), Emily MacDonald, Abigail Kays and Jessica Kays; great-granddaughter Mylah; siblings Levi Saulnier, Albertine Sonier. Lauza Saulnier, Robert Sonier and Eugene Sonier; aunt Gertrude Lebreton; many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Along with her parents, Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband Alvin Crawford; brothers Frank, Michael, Alphonse, Yvon, Fernand and Vincent; and sisters Olive Worden and Cecilia Ferguson.</p> <p>Due to the restrictions and pandemic the family were limited to private services back in January. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph&#39;s Cemetery on Monday August 9th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral procession to depart Fundy Funeral Home at 1:50 p.m. Friends are asked to arrive to the upper parking lot between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. Donations in Jane&#39;s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to Breast Cancer Research.
