Luigi “Gino” Baldassarre, 76, of Beverly died suddenly on January 17, 2021. Born in San Benedetto, Italy to the late Umberto and Cristina (DiCenzo) Baldassarre, Educated in Italy, Gino came to the United States at the age of 18 with his parents and sister where he began a new life making pizza and building a lifelong career in autobody. He was an avid member of the Italian community, Elks and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed making wine, gardening, cooking, watching horse races, football and spending time with his family and many, many friends. Gino had a huge heart, who would help anyone he could with what means he had and was fondly known as “Mr. Wonderful”. He will be remembered for his animate way to tell a story, his infectious smile, and his ability to just make you laugh. He will be sorely missed and will forever have a special place in the hearts of all that met him. Gino is survived by his son Umberto Baldassarre of NH; daughter Lisa Johnson and her husband Matthew of Bradford; sisters Elvira Diluca and her husband Dino of Danvers and Maria of Italy; four grandchildren, Dominic, Damian, Aiden, and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Kairi, Roman, and Quentin; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends whom he would often fondly refer to as “Chooch” or “Pasquale”. He is welcomed into Heaven with open arms by his late son James Baldassarre. His funeral will be held privately. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
