Obituary

Bill Hart passed away on January 16, 2021 in Beaumont at the age of 88 years. He was born in Vermilion, AB on January 23, 1932 to his parents, Edwin and Bessie Hart and was the youngest of his siblings (Helen, Joe, Ruth and Delle). He attended Hughes, Carleton and Buffalo Coulee country schools until the end of grade 9. In 1951, he attended the Vermilion School of Agriculture.

Dad married the love of his life Barbara June Barnett on July 29, 1953.  Together they had 3 children, Susan, Murray and Douglas. Dad liked to travel. Mom and Dad would pack us up and take us on annual camping trips, travelling to various places in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan or to see family in the United States.  Dad’s hobbies included:  fishing, hunting, driving, visiting, playing cards and telling stories.

Dad purchased the Hart family farm from his parents in the early 1960’s, so he could continue his passion for farming and working the land. In 1979, Dad, Mom, Murray and Doug formed Four Harts Cattle Co. Ltd.  Dad always enjoyed working cattle and with the help of the boys, the farm expanded to include a feedlot.  Farming was his life passion, but he also dabbled in the trucking industry, which Murray continues to do today. He passed away doing exactly what he loved, as he was actively farming until the day he died.

Anyone who knew him, knew he was not a man to mince his words, he told it like it was.  He always had a political opinion and felt politicians did not do enough for agriculture.

One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren: Jackie, Jennifer and Sean as they grew up. He looked forward to their visits and was extremely proud of the successful, well-educated young people they have become.

After Barb passed away, Dad met and married Gladys Buhler, whom he was married to for 10 years until her passing in April 2011.  With Gladys, he continued to enjoy travelling, playing cards and making new friendships.

In 2015, Dad hosted a Hart family reunion to mark the farm’s 100th birthday with many family, from the States, staying with us on the farm for the festivities.

He was relatively healthy and fit for his age but passed away suddenly at this home in Beaumont on January 16, 2021, just shy of his 89th birthday.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children Susan (Don) Myshak, Murray (Monique), and Doug (Cindy); grandchildren Jackie (Mike) Zimmerman, Jennifer Farrell (Steve Como), and Sean Myshak (Madi Penman); sisters-in-law Kay, Ida, and Marg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years Barbara Hart in 1998; second wife Gladys Buhler in 2011; parents Edwin & Bessie; sisters Helen (Jim) Hawkins, Ruth (Henning) Haverslew, and Delle (Frank) Dawson; sister-in-law Mary (Jack) Christie; brothers-in-law Roy Barnett, and Jim Barnett.

A Come & Go Viewing will be taking place on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Reflections Funeral & Cremation Services (4902B - 50 Avenue, Vermilion) from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The “Come & Go Viewing” is available to the public. Current restrictions will be in place: no more than 20 occupants at one time, social distancing maintained, and face masks required.

A Celebration of Life, along with the urn burial, will be taking place in the spring of 2021.
