Mr. Larry Wayne Marbrey, age 75, of Durham, NC passed away on January 17th, 2021 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Larry was born on September 9, 1945 in Durham to the late N.M. “Foots” Marbrey and Eunice Mae Gooch Glenn. Larry retired from IBM after a 31-year service with the company. After a brief retirement, Larry returned to IBM as a contractor and continued to work for another 5 years. Larry was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 0352. Larry is survived by brothers, Mike Marbrey (Carla) of Garner, Tim Marbrey (Laurie) and Richard Glenn of Durham; sisters, Karen Ray, and Debbie Marbrey of Durham; stepdaughters, Yvonne King (Bruce) of Cary and Yvette Rich (Joel) of Fuquay-Varina as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Joan McGhee Marbrey, and his daughter, Alicia Anne Marbrey. Due to COVID-19, a graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC, with Chaplain Ralph Thompson officiating. Face masks and social distancing are required.
