Domecinda Carmelita Florez Obituary

Domecinda Carmelita Florez of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on January 16, 2021.  She was born on January 9, 1934 to Manual Kimbrell Sr. and Petra Maes in Picacho, New Mexico.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lorenzo Florez. They built a life and marriage together of 68 years. Additional surviving family members include her sister, Anatalia Virginia Kajikawa, daughters Lyria Florez and Angela Weigand (Kenneth), sons Lorenzo Paul Florez, Richard Joseph Florez and Christopher Michael Florez.  She had six grandchildren, Michael Thuenen, Rebecca Weisenberg, Daniel Thuenen Jr., Elizabeth Thuenen, William Weigand, Nicolas Weigand and five great grandchildren.  Those who preceded her are her brothers, Manuel Kimbrell II, Benjamin Kimbrell Sr., Roman Kimbrell, and her sister, Maria Kimbrell Brown.

She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, friend and a member of her local church at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Scottsdale.  She was a blessing to everyone she met.  Those close to her, will remember her as a family woman that you could joke with but would give you the look (that all mothers do) to let you know it was time to stop what you were doing.

The well-being of her children was her main focal point and would volunteer many times at her children’s schools and made sure that all her children would be okay.  Her earlier work was done at Warner Bros, continued  on to working at Chase Bank in Scottsdale, and had other jobs in life she enjoyed.  She had a passion for reading; so much so that she would stay up all night reading a book because she just couldn’t put it down, was a member of the Sodality at OLPH, was part of a bowling league, was very interested in learning and reading about politics and world issues, but most of all she enjoyed just being with her family. She married her high school sweetheart on December 14, 1952.  Her younger sister used to be riding on the school bus, would see Lorenzo and Dome together and she would run in and tell their mom, "Dome was sitting with Lorenzo on the school bus" in a tattle tale way.  Well, that didn't deter them- sixty eight years later they were still riding life together.

She will live on inside all of us that knew her and we will carry on her legacy in all ways possible.

A private viewing for her immediate family will be this Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
