Andrew Pappas Obituary

DRACUT- Andrew Pappas, 78, a lifelong resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Johnson) Pappas with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Andrew was born in Lowell on August 5, 1942 a son of Nicholas and Esther (Panas) Pappas. Following high school, Andrew proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving as an MP stationed in Berlin during the building of the Berlin Wall. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from the Andover Institute of Business. He also received a professional degree in Criminal Justice and built his career as a Community Programs Officer with the US Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. Andrew loved classic cars, Mustangs in particular, and was a member of the Merrimack Valley Car Club for many years. His favorite activities included going to the beach, traveling to Daytona Beach and Saint Martin, having a cup of coffee and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his loving wife Diane, Andrew is survived by his sisters-in-law, Susan Pappas of Easton and Cynthia Hutt of Melrose, brothers-in-law, Stephen Johnson and his wife Sharon of Tuscon, AZ and James A. Johnson and his wife Luz of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his nieces Stacy Reed and Alana Esterman who is also his cherished goddaughter. He was predeceased by his brother Tom Pappas. He will be sorely missed by all but especially his beloved German Shepherd Sasha and the late Radar and Bruno. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 10-11am at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way in Lowell. His funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery. To ensure the safety of all, social distancing measures will be in place and face coverings kindly required. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Andrew’s name may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, checks can be made out to MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130 or The Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Fr.
