Annabelle "Annie" Mary St. Jean Obituary

Annabelle Mary St. Jean (Friedt) unexpectedly left us at the age of 66 on Jan 8th, 2021. She was surrounded by loved ones as she passed from this earth into the long awaited arms of her beautiful daughter, Lonie Marie in The Great Perogie Palace in the sky, where the turkey drumsticks are plentiful and the gravy is golden as can be.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 40 years, Kelly St. Jean, her son and daughter-in-law, “Little” Kelly & Suzanne, her most adored grandson Robbie and, of course, little Abby.

43 years ago Annie and Kelly found love at a Nazareth concert in Regina Saskatchewan. From their first home in Regina on Embury Street to the tiny town of Claresholm Alberta, they have been inseparable.

Our “Hostess with the Mostest” was special in every way.  She will always be remembered for her amazing holiday meals and gatherings, her teasing and poking to those around, her ability to laugh at herself, the kind gentle heart she possessed and the genuine interest and concern for all those who she knew.  Good chances are if you had a 5 minute conversation with Annie, you would know the latest and greatest of at least 5 of her other friends and family.  She loved her friends and family unconditionally.  Annie enjoyed living through and sharing in their happiness and went out of her way to help take on the burden of their struggles.  She was a true friend to everyone.

Her large circle of friends included lifelong childhood friends and cousins in the Bienfait / Estevan area where she grew up as well as friends from her workplaces in Regina as a young woman and mother.  She made lifelong friends with the many moms and kids at the Alberta Children’s Hospital as well as around the Okotoks & High River area where they lived and worked.  Annie developed friendships with other Classic Car enthusiasts around Alberta and Montana, at their little oasis at Highland Campground and with people around Claresholm where they’ve settled.

She had a big personality for her 4’10 frame.  All the nieces and nephews could not wait until they outgrew Auntie Annie because that was when they graduated to the adult table at Christmas.

Bubbly, humorous, sarcastic, kind, caring and considerate are just a few of her stand out characteristics.  She had a passion for food, loved a good book, movie and live music.  Annie loved playing board games and cards with her family around the holidays and relaxing by the river at her little getaway at Highland Park.  She was always up for a good joke, even if it was at her own expense.

Annie will be missed by all, but never forgotten.

As per Annie’s wishes, her remains were cremated and will be with her daughter Lonie. Due to Covid, there will be no funeral at this time. As life permits, hopefully in the near future, there will be a memorial gathering to which Annie said “where finally I won’t have to cook!”.
