David Paul Smith 58 of Aspermont died Sunday afternoon in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday January 20, 2021 in the Aspermont Cemetery officiated by Rev. Robert Johnson under the care and direction of GilesMcCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont. David Paul Smith, a Fort Worth native who resided in Aspermont, TX, born on September 27, 1962, passed away on the morning of January 17th, 2021 at the age of 58. During his 58 years, he spent the majority of his life in Texas working hard as a roofer until his retirement. He was loved by all and enjoyed fishing, both virtually and in real life, and spending time with his little dog, Summer. He always had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger. Even though deaf, he lived every moment of his life fuller than most. He is preceded in death by his mother Fay Hamlin Smith, and his sisters, Linda Fay Smith and Jeannine Inez Smith. He is survived by his father, Kenneth Smith, his sisters and brother-in-law, Edith Smith, Tammy and Roy Odom and Dorothy Crews, as well as his longtime companion Rose Langford, and daughter Nicole Smith, and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends. During the last few years, he was cared for by his niece and guardian angel, Iris Crews. He will be greatly missed by all. David is now free of pain and suffering, he will now be able the hear the voice of his dear, sweet mother for the first time and the music of God's choir.
