Wilbur Clyde Lyons, Jr. passed on January 16, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. He was born to Joy Louise Conn and Wilbur Clyde Lyons, Sr. on December 8, 1956 at the Air Force Base in Houston, Texas. Will’s family lived in the Philippines, Arkansas, California, Kansas and Texas because of his father’s Air Force service. After his dad’s service, the family settled in South East Texas. Home to many of Will’s parents’ kin. He graduated from Vidor High School and attended Lamar University, earning an Appliance Certification. In his early years he worked at the local grocery store, in refineries, carpet layer and as an auto mechanic. He served as a HVAC Technician and Master Plumber for over 25 years with the State of Texas, at Lamar University and Cedar Valley College. He enjoyed refereeing pee-wee football from 1988-1992. Will was an avid Boy Scout with many achievements. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Most recently, was a Troop 234 leader, and a Circle 10 Commissioner. An avid music fan, Will often could be heard signing his favorite tunes. He was a Beetles, Keith Whitley, John Denver and Willie Nelson fan. Will was a great craftsman who loved to tinker and build. He enjoyed tinkering with model trains, rockets, ships and RC Cars. Also building many items for his family to use. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening. He loved being able to do “dad things” with his daughter, Annalee and “PopPop things” with his grandchildren. Will had a ready smile and loved to laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Will is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Meg Lyons; daughter, Annalee Phillips and husband Jon; Godson and nephew, Daniel Pelham; son, Steven Kodie Lyons; grandchildren, Tatum and Luke Phillips, Nathan Tribes, and Noah and Jonah Lyons; siblings, Rebecca Merle Lyons, and Lynda Louise Lyons. “Willie’s” parents came from large families and he is also survived by three remaining aunts (Jo, Opal and Jewell) A host of wonderful cousins,nieces and nephews, he loved dearly, whom he related to by birth and marriage, Will shared so many wonderful times and memories full of lots of laughter with his family and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 W. Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
