Clara Spain Obituary

Mrs. Clara B. Spain of Tampa passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021.  Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue with Reverend Karen Jackson Sims, Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Riverview, FL, officiating.  Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513. Please follow the CDC Guidelines. Masks are required.   

Mrs. Clara B. Spain was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida born to Josephine Law Franklin and Freeman Franklin.  She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School where she was a Majorette in the Marching Band.  Mrs. Spain retired as a Supervisor, Folder, Packer at National Linen Service. 

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert L. Spain; her loving parents, Freeman and Josephine Franklin; brother, William F. Franklin; sisters, Annie M. Johnson and Fannie M. Smith; daughter, Rhonda F. Strickland; cousin, Leila Harold, and Juanita Barnes; and niece, Lola Ginson. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Ronald Franklin, Gregory Franklin, Wanda Spain, Brenda Green, Cynthia Price, and John Wester (Denise) of Ft. Myers, FL; stepsons, Anthony Evans (Linda), Alfonso Evans, Fred Blaylock (Robin), and Michael Blaylock, all of Tampa, FL;  grandchildren, Tonia Roseboro, William F. Carter, Finley Carter III, Clarice Sirmons, Trenisha Felton, Devon Dixon, Jeremiah Williams, Whitney Lofton, Jocelyn Sherelle Spain-Johnson (Andre Johnson), Serroda Mitchell, Julian Mitchell and Nucci, all of Tampa, FL; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; in-laws, Sharon Lancaster, Williams Spain (Rita) of W. Bloomfield, MI and JoAnnne Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, other sorrowing relatives and friends to include, Anna M. Ellis (neighbor), Jackie Jones, Lorita Johnson and the Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church family and many friends from the Hyde Park area. 

The visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, January 21 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.  We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required.
