Danny Ray Jordan Obituary

Danny Ray Jordan, age 78, of Crossett & Monticello, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.  He was born on November 6, 1942, in Monticello to the late Rev Jack E Jordan Sr. and Maude Boone Jordan.

He was a 1961 graduate of Drew Central High School.  The following year, he began a 43-year career with Georgia Pacific Paper Company eventually retiring in 2005.  He was a former member of the Meridian Baptist Church in Crossett where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years before moving his membership to the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello.

Danny’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing dominos.  He also loved watching Drew Central Pirates Basketball, the Razorbacks, and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He loved his family and if you had a minute or two or three or four, he loved to share his hunting stories with you, especially one of his many squirrel hunting stories.  Danny seemed to always have a smile on his face and was known to some as “the fun Uncle” because he could make you laugh.

In addition to his parents, Danny was also proceeded in death by his five brothers: Adrian, Bobby, Gary, Alvin, & Jack; and two of his sisters, Jewel Hargis & Lela Gavin.

Survivors included his wife of 58 years, Glynda Searcy Jordan; one daughter, Tammy Jordan and fiancé Spencer Griffin of Crossett; one son, Mark Jordan and wife Jenny of Bentonville.  One sister, Shelby Williams of Monticello; three sisters-in-law, Marie Loveless Jordan, Francis White Jordan, and Jane Hogue Jordan, all of Monticello.  Three Grandchildren: Matthew Jordan, Dirkston Dean, and Jett Jordan.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Pastor David Jacks, officiating.  Pallbearers are Jason Savage, Kevin Jordan, Josh Martin, Spencer Griffin, C.J. Watson, and Ryan Watson.
