David A. Kelley
David A. Kelley, age 64 of Stratford, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. There will be no services held at this time. There will be a celebration of Dave’s life at a later date. David Alan Kelley was born to Rev. Dale and Dorothea (Dally) Kelley on December 18, 1956 in Cissna Park, IL. He graduated from Stratford High in 1975, then attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA, where he received his Associate’s Degree. Dave moved to Wenatchee, Washington for a few years. He moved back to Iowa where he worked for Naden Industries until they shut down. Then he began working for the Webster City Community School District and later the Hamilton County Courthouse for a number of years and was currently employed by both. Dave spent his free time listening to and playing bluegrass music. He played guitar in a band for several years and enjoyed writing and recording his own music. He was also a beloved brother and uncle to all his nieces and nephews who liked to have a good time with Uncle Dave. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Darold and Larry Doyle Kelley; and brother-in-law, John Vopalensky. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Vopalensky of Martin, GA; brother, Steve (Diana) Kelley of Stratford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
