<p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Catherine &quot;Kate&quot; Ann Starr, 73, of Altoona, passed away at her residence Saturday evening. Kate was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Edward and Rita (Ronan) Raichle. She married Peter N. Starr on Feb. 24, 1968 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Surviving are: her husband, Dr. Peter &quot;Pete&quot; Starr; one daughter: Kristina Starr; two sons: Bryan (Eileen) Starr and Matthew Starr; six grandchildren; and two sisters: Rita Sral and Barbara Smithmyer.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Kate was an LPN nurse working at Mercy Hospital and the Presbyterian Home. As a nurse, she also did private duty.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Kate loved going to the beach with her family, loved her flower garden and especially loved to be with her husband, children, and her grandchildren, which she enjoyed the most.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Kate was a member and president of the LPN Private Duty Registry, a member of the Blair County Republican committee and the Cove Republican committee and a member of the Altoona Council of the Navy League.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>She was a 1965 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and a graduate of the Altoona School of Nursing.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>A private viewing will be held for the family.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 12th Ave. and 20th St. with Msgr. Stanley Carson, officiating. (COVID -19 of social distancing and mask are required)</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Committal will be at SS. Catherine "Kate" Ann Starr, 73, of Altoona, passed away at her residence Saturday evening. Kate was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Edward and Rita (Ronan) Raichle. She married Peter N. Starr on Feb. 24, 1968 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

Surviving are: her husband, Dr. Peter "Pete" Starr; one daughter: Kristina Starr; two sons: Bryan (Eileen) Starr and Matthew Starr; six grandchildren; and two sisters: Rita Sral and Barbara Smithmyer.

Kate was an LPN nurse working at Mercy Hospital and the Presbyterian Home. As a nurse, she also did private duty.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
