Versie L. Houston Memphis, Tennessee Obituary

Versie L. Houston

Versie L. Houston, age 63, died January 17, 2021. Out of thirteen beautiful children from Feaodia and Roy. I was the last, their precious little baby boy. They named me Versie but I am affectionately known as “Bunny.” Some say I was spoiled; I say I was not. I was just blessed to have a family that loved me a lot. I had a good upbringing. I was taught to love and serve the Lord with all my heart. It all began at Oakville M.B Church. That’s where I first learned of Christ and got my start. Like most, I failed at times, but eventually, I asked God to create in me a clean heart. I then served The Lord at Victory in Christ Christian Church until my name was called. I graduated from Germantown H.S and The Culinary Institute of Chicago. I leave my family to remember me. My big sisters; Maggie, Annie, Bobbie, Mamie, Deloris (Joe), and Hazel (Morris). I loved you all dearly. I also leave my daughter, Shelby, whom I loved with all my heart, and daddy was proud to call you my own. I had a host of nieces, nephews it’s just too many to name. Just know that Uncle Bunny loved each and every one of you the same. I have family members that have gone before me: my Father and Mother, brothers; Roy Jr, Robert, Eddie, and Howard. Also my sisters Dorothy, Ernestine, and Corine. I now join them in eternal rest. On the day I went to sleep. God said Versie “It’s time to take your rest. You ran the race and did your best.” There is nothing more to be said or done. It’s all over and your victory is won. Rest now until the trumpet sounds and then stand before me to receive your crown.” Please don’t remember with tears, but with the kisses I gave, the jokes I played, and most of all the love I shared. On earth, I didn’t have riches, fortune, or fame. But, in the Lamb’s Book of Life, God has signed MY name. I love you all, Versie Serenity Funeral Home, Tel. (901)379-0861
