Evelyn Christine Salas passed away after a brief illness on January 15, 2021. She was 72 years old. Born on August 9, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Elrod Zellner Sr. and Ruby Wilson Zellner. Evelyn was a dedicated police officer for the Forsyth Police Department in Monroe County. After her law enforcement career, she enjoyed gardening and decorating her home. Her most precious time was spent with her family. Evelyn could light up a room with her outgoing personality and contagious laugh. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Darren Stephens (RoseMary) of Augusta, and Sherry Tanner (Troy) of Byron; grandchildren, Ainsley Stephens, Conner Stephens, and Tyler Tanner (Whitney); great grandchild, Hadleigh Grace Tanner; brother, Thomas Zellner (Wanda) of Byron; several nieces, nephews and other extended family. At the family’s request, a memorial service for Evelyn will be held at a later date.
