Janet K. (Schmidt) Klug, 80, of Cascade, passed away at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center on Friday, January 15, 2021. Janet was born on July 25, 1940 in Plymouth a daughter to Harold and Gladys (Guell) Schmidt. She attended Cascade Grade School and Plymouth High School where she graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1958.On February 7, 1959 Janet married Edward (Woody) Klug at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade. They made their home in Cascade. Edward preceded her in death on February 25, 1995. Janet worked at Gilson Brothers in the office from 1969 to 1987 and then at Sargento until 2006 when she retired. Janet was in a bowling league until 1967 when she joined Chord-A-Lettes, a barbershop singing group in Plymouth. She sang in a few quartets and then in 1976, sang bass in the Reflections quartet where at the international convention of Harmony Inc. they won the quartet competition in Springfield Massachusetts. She later joined another quartet, the Crystal Collection, and in 1981 they won the quartet competition in Boston, Massachusetts. While in both quartets she made many wonderful friends during their travels to Canada and throughout the U.S. during their reign as Harmony Queens. She also participated in the Camo Quilt project in Plymouth, was Weight Recorder secretary of TOPS in Cascade and sang in her church choir for 25 years. She was also a stock car wife who followed Woody in his modified racing career. Janet enjoyed gardening, jewelry making, painting, the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR, TV and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always enjoyed her noon lunches with her “class of ‘58 girls”. Janet leaves behind her son, Brian (Rachel) Klug of Belgium, Wisconsin; one daughter, Pamela (Jamie) Hamilton of Cascade; five grandchildren, Jamie Haneman Klug of Sheboygan, Derek (Jamie)Klug of Plymouth, Alyssa (Steve) Kautzer of Plymouth, Bailey Klug of Elkhart Lake, and Jacob Hamilton of Cascade; five great grandchildren Drew, Lilly and Noah Klug and Jacob and Luka Kautzer; two sisters-in-law Celine Schmidt of Cascade and Sandy (Dennis) Hiller of Random Lake; two brothers-in-law Robert (Janice) Klug of Plymouth and Jerome Klug of Adell. Many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends and last but not least, one aunt, Joyce Grahl of Plymouth. Preceding her in death is her beloved husband Edward, her parents, brother Ronnie Schmidt, stepfather Art Vanderkin, brother and sister-in-law Roger and Ann Klug, mother and father-in-law Milton and Ida Klug and stepfather-in-law Max Kruschke. A funeral service for Janet will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, January 19 at St. Paul Lutheran Church,509 Milwaukee Ave., Cascade with Rev. Richard Bidinger officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Masks and social distancing is requested. Memorials in Janet’s name are preferred. Janet’s family extends their grateful appreciation to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center for the care given to her.
