Janet Irene (Falkingham) Parker Miller passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at her home in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 86. She was the 5th of 6 children born to Ralph and Emma (Janke) Falkingham on June 1, 1934 in Rock, Kansas. Janet attended high school in Winfield and Fredonia, Kansas where she was active in track and cheerleading. Following high school, she briefly attended Independence College and left when she won a school beauty pageant which included a trip to New York City. After returning, Janet began working in business administration as a secretary. On November 28, 1953, Janet and Loren Parker were united in marriage in Wichita, Kansas. Together they had 3 children: Bill, Bob and Nancy. Following Loren's passing in 1964, she was blessed to find love again and married Wilbur Miller on February 5, 1966 in Fredonia, Kansas. They had 2 children, Julie and Chris, and celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2020. Family meant everything to Janet and was always her first priority. She was the hub of the family, providing support, love and communication. Janet loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family both close and extended. Janet also had a passion for housing and enjoyed remodeling, decorating and building homes for her family to enjoy and for her occupation as a landlord in several communities. She stayed involved in the communities where she resided by being engaged in many civic groups and fundraisers. In Medicine Lodge, Janet served as a city council member and was instrumental in building the Greater Barber County Heritage Center and Caboose Welcome Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Emma Falkingham; first husband, Loren Parker; second husband, Wilbur Miller; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Hoyt along with several brothers and sisters. Survivors include son, William Parker of Tekoa, Washington; son, Robert Parker and his wife Karen of Raymondville, Missouri; daughter, Nancy Fischer and her husband Andy of Golden, Colorado; daughter, Julie Carey and her husband Jeff McGuire of Wellington, Kansas; son, Christopher Miller and his wife Ann of McPherson, Kansas; sister, Phyllis Wilcoxen of Arkansas City, Kansas, grandchildren: TJ Mensch, Staci Miller Ulrich, Jason Parker, Alexander Parker, Angela Collins, Amanda Ray, Stephen Hoyt, Tricia Halling, Matthew Hoyt, Parker Hoyt, Jeffrey McGuire, Rachel McGuire, Lily McGuire, Kristin Miller, Andy Miller and Anabelle Miller along with numerous great-grandchildren. Private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given in her name to the Parkinson's Foundation.
