David C. Shane, 53, died January 14, 2021. Visitation and funeral services will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Saint Innocent Orthodox Cathedral, 401 Turpin Street. The viewing will be at 11am with a service to follow. Internment will take place in the spring at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery. One of seventeen children, David was born on St. Paul Island on June 4, 1967, to William and Martha Shane (Fratis). He was a graduate of East High School and went on to attend Spartan School of Aeronautics where he studied Applied Science and Technology for two years. He received his Office Assistant Diploma from the Alaska Computer Institute, and a Certificate in Business and Office Technology from AVTec. David was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. His boisterous laugh was contagious, his quick wit and stories would have you laughing until it hurt. He thought of everyone else but himself, making sure everyone else was taken care of. David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Shane, sisters, Serafima Shane, Katherine Dunton, Erena Haynes, and brothers Walter Shane and John Shane. He is survived by his brothers, William Shane Jr., Frank Shane, Nikander Shane, Mike Shane, and Benjamin Shane; sisters, Mabel Kochutin, Diane Krukoff, Dorothy Andrews and Anna Lestenkof, countless nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
