Gerald "Wally" Wallace

Gerald “Wally” Wallace, 76, of Parsons, passed away at 3:01 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home. He was born on November 20, 1944 in Winfield, Kansas to Ray E. and Lavona (Scarth) Wallace. He grew up in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School. Wally worked for 28 years as a manager of CO-OP’s in Arkansas City, Winfield and Oswego. He then worked for St. Patrick Catholic Church and School for 30 years maintaining the buildings. Wally enjoyed seeing several generations of children attend the school. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, bowling and was an active grandfather with his grandchildren’s activities. Wally was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary and was a former member of the Elks Lodge No 527. He and Barbara J. “Barb” (Dodson) Snowden were married on February 14, 1983 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Chester Cole, and his wife, Stacey, of Leavenworth, KS; a daughter, Jeannie White, and her husband, Bert, of Parsons; five grandchildren, Amanda Mercado, and her husband, Ben, Alex Dean Smith, and his wife, Kelsie, Ashantae Smith, Alexis Cole and Chase Cole; four great-grandchildren, Karmyn Smith, Khloe Smith, Ashlynn Smith and Avery Dean Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Fr. Curtis Robertson doing a blessing at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Parsons Youth Bowling Association and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
