Services for Walter Baden Gatlin will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Dr. Philip Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
The family requests visitation be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Deville from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Due to Covid restrictions social distancing and masks are required.
Mr. Gatlin, 85, of Pineville passed from this life, Friday, January 15, 2021, at his residence.
During his working career he was the Superintendent of the Louisiana Special Education Center, Coach, and Teacher. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and McArthur Drive Lions Club. Walter loved his God, his family, his country and flag and especially God’s special children.
He was preceded in death his parents, Wiley A. Gatlin, Sr. and Louella Baden Gatlin; brothers, infant brother, Donald Owens Gatlin, and Wiley A. Gatlin, Jr.; great grandchild, Lucy Rae Gaudet; son-in-law, Michael Wayne Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Doris Moser Gatlin; sons, Chester Gatlin (Denise), Clifford Gatlin (Sandy), Chris Gatlin (Christine), Scott Alan Hargrove; daughters, Cheryl G. Robichaux (Donnie), Charlotte G. Boothe (Alan), Kimberly Davis; sisters, Mary G. McGaugh (Don), Martha G. Jarvis (Harold); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; fur baby, “Lady Bea”; Host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Scott Alan Hargrove, Adam Gatlin, Chris Gatlin, Jr., Colton Gatlin, Clint Robichaux, and Mark Baden. Honorary pallbearers will be O. J. Blair, Dustin Lazarone, David Ducote, Christian Gaudet, Tyler Davis, David Boothe, Tony Daly, Rusty Jones, Sonny Joslin and James Hayes.
