Janice “Bobbie” McCaskey, age 82 of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Boone County Hospital. A private family service will be held at a later date. Bobbie will be laid to rest at Linwood Park Cemetery. Bobbie was born to Cecil and Bertha Hoffman on January 2, 1939 in Boone, Iowa. She attended Boone High School and then worked at the Haddy Egg Company, candling eggs. Bobbie was united in marriage with John Gale McCaskey on December 20, 1958 at the Free Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa. After her husband passed away in 1984, Bobbie started working in housekeeping and over the years she worked at Ledges Manor, Westhaven Community, formerly known as the Evangelical Free Church Home, and the Eastern Star Masonic Home. During her free time, the highlight of her days were taking care of her two grandsons. They meant the most to her and she was happiest going places and doing things with them. She enjoyed spending time every summer up at Clear Lake and spent many mornings at HyVee having coffee with her friends. She always saw the good in everything no matter what the situation. Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Janet Johnson of Ames; grandsons, Kirby (fiancé, Ashley Ward) and Kelby both of Boone; sister, Arliss Anderson of Fort Collins, CO; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Gale McCaskey. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
