Dorothy W. "Dot" Steedley Obituary

Dorothy W. “Dot” Steedley, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 15, 2021 at the Solaris Healthcare in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Lake City on August 26, 1928 to the late Morris Witt and Bertha Roberts Witt. She has been a life-long resident of Lake City and was a Telephone Operator for Southern Bell for over 35 years. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church who loved her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren dearly. Mrs. Dot was known as a “Flirt” and will be missed by not only her family, but her special Solaris Healthcare Family as well. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Brent Howard Steedley.

 

She is survived by her children, Barbara Saunders (Charles) and Kay Jones (Ronnie); sister, Carolyn Markham; grandchildren, Brian Saunders (Wendy), Shelli Shoup (Randall) and Chris Jones (Terra); great-grandchildren, Cameron Saunders, Lexi Saunders, Ashley Shoup, Hunter Shoup, Autumn Jones and Addison Jones. Special nieces, Paula Crews, Gayle Arnold (Ozzie) and Tomi Sue Lee (Wade) along with several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Dot will be conducted on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. in the Southside Baptist Church with her grandson, Pastor Chris Jones and Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to Southside Baptist Church in Lake City.
