Lois Bell Sewell, age 92 years, 9 months, and 27 days, of Whitley City, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Signature Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.<br><br>Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Sewell and Bro. Mike Casada officiating. Burial followed in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.<br><br>She was born March 19, 1928 in Wayne County to Marion Bell and Nancy Jane Ross Bell. Lois was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was very active as long as she was able to be. She was the personification of the Proverbs 31 woman in everything she did for her family. Lois was a very strong woman and loved caring for her late husband and her children, teaching them about Jesus and her love for Him and His love for them. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time and gardening.<br><br>Preceding her in death were her father, Marion Bell, her mother, Nancy Jane Bell Phipps, her stepfather, Ephraim Phipps, her husband, Elby Sewell, whom she married December 7, 1945, brothers, Vernon Bell and Arnold Bell, sisters, Velma Gregory, Clona Black, Beulah Edwards, Sylvia Winchester, and Kay Crisp, and a grandchild.<br><br>Survivors include two sons, Gary Sewell and his wife, Kaye, of Pine Knot, and Rev. Mark Sewell and his wife, Sherry, of Whitley City, a daughter, Marilyn Casada and her husband, Roger, of Greenwood, brothers, Doyle Bell and his wife, Lavonne, of Eaton, Indiana and Andrew Phipps and his wife, Shirlene, of Muncie, Indiana, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.<br><br>Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Lois Bell Sewell.
