Donna Kathleen Feys Obituary

DONNA KATHLEEN FEYS

December 7, 1946 – January 14, 2021

Donna Kathleen Feys(Wales) passed away January 14, 2021 in Drayton Valley‘s Long Term Care. She was born December 7, 1946 in Calgary Alberta to William (Bill) & Helen Wales. She is survived by Her children Greg (Karen Grosso); Elana (Quentin)Evans; grandchildren; Akashia Fulton, Sabin Feys; Shawn and Carson Evans and step-granddaughter Jayda (Henrique)VanHeerden; 2 step-great granddaughters Makayla and Everly VanHeerden; her sister Denise Wales (Ted Lander); brother Donald (Rita) Wales. She was predeceased by her parents and husband Alois Feys.

Donna’s family moved from Calgary to the farm in Caroline shortly after her birth. They mixed farmed and sold milk and cream. Donna did very well in school and loved all sports. She played basketball and volleyball in high school, Red Deer College and at the U of A. One of her greatest joys was watch her grandchildren play. She loved all music. As a family they all played guitar and sang together; she was in the Bar None band in University. When arthritis robbed her from playing, she enjoyed listening to Greg play. She was waiting for Akashia to learn to play the banjo and Carson to play the ukulele for her. Bluegrass and classic county being her particular favorites. At Drayton Valley they had sing along evenings and she would sing every song she knew; which she knew a lot. Donna loved animals; cows, horses, dogs and cats. She always had house cats and dogs.

Donna graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural. She worked at the Lacombe at the University’s research farm.

Donna met Slim while she was visiting Denise; he invited her to a barn dance. They were married May 23, 1969 and were together 42 years.

After the kids were older, Donna went back to work as a sales associate and book keeper at Modern Electric, she worked there for 21 years Then she worked at H&R Block as a Corporate and Personal Tax Preparer. It was a job she really enjoyed. She liked talking to the clients. When her health made it unable to work that’s what she missed the most. She battled Endometrial Cancer, Breast Cancer and then an Un-Operable Brain Tumor. She made friends with the nurses, and doctors in the hospitals and care facilities she was in.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the nurses, doctors and healthcare aids that have helped Donna through her journey.

There will be no funeral or celebration of life at this time.

Cremation was entrusted to the Drayton Valley Funeral Services and Rocky Mountain Crematorium.

As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Donna’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
