Audrey Beryl Chrisp

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Audrey Chrisp passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home.

Audrey Beryl Carter was born on February 1, 1935 in Winnipeg. She grew up in the Dunara area until moving to Scarth, MB where she met her future husband Thomas Chrisp. They were married in Winnipeg on May 12, 1956 and lived in Scarth, MB until moving to the Clandeboye area in 1962 where they farmed together for many years. In addition to raising 7 children, milking cows by hand, baking bread, canning food for our winter meals and sewing a lot of our clothes when we were younger, she also made or aided in the quilting of over 250 quilts. She was a very involved mother who encouraged all of her children in their many activities. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, quilting, and taught herself to use a computer. Mom was actively involved in the life of St. George’s Wakefield Anglican Church where she was confirmed in October 1963. She was a 4-H leader for over 25 years, and a member of the Clandeboye Community Club. Once the children were older she worked outside the home as a 4-H Program Assistant, clerk at Western Canada Lotteries Corporation and then at the Canada Revenue Agency. Prior to marriage she had been a permit teacher and a clerk at Eaton’s.

She was predeceased by her husband Tom Chrisp in 2002, parents Stanley and Anne Carter and brother Edwin (Jean) Carter, in-laws Jack and Carrie Chrisp, Donald Chrisp, George Chrisp, Frances (Fernie) Grosjean and Norma St. Jean, Stan Cochrane, George Sims, Muriel Carter and Jim Luke.

Mourning her passing are her children, Linda (Peter) Janzen, Joanne (Nelson) Fulford, Marlene Weidman, Shirley (Grant) Greening, Roger (Patty) Chrisp, Carolyn Chrisp, and Greg (Tanya) Chrisp.

She will be missed by grandchildren Allison (Josh) and Ryan Janzen, Nolan, Ben and Ian (Taralyn) Fulford, Josh (Pam) and Aaron (Marie) Weidman, Karen (Guy) Anderson, Alex and Eric Greening, Darrin (Danielle) and Kevin Chrisp, and her great-grandchildren Haily, Galina, Carter, Raya, Colton, Kyle and Brodie.

She also leaves behind her sister Phyllis Luke, brothers Arnold (Linda) Carter and Raymond (Elaine) Carter, Tom’s siblings Phyllis Sims, Gordon (Joyce) Chrisp, and sister-in-law Della Chrisp as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Thank you mom for your love and dedication to your family. We learned the value of working hard and following through with everything you commit to do. You had an amazing memory that we counted on many times and you remained sharp until the end. I remember asking you your biggest goal in life and you said that you always strove to be a good person. You were that and more! We now have you as an angel watching over us.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff who cared for mom at Donwood Manor. She made many friends while she lived there. Staff shared fond memories of mom with us, including her conversations with "Hey Google", and talking about the latest audiobook she was listening to.
