Connel Thomas Whitehead Okotoks, Alberta Obituary

Connel Thomas Whitehead

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Son, Brother and Uncle, Connel Thomas Whitehead. Connel was born June 3, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 in Okotoks, Alberta. He will be greatly missed. Connel, an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, truly believed that there is a “Plan of Happiness”, set up by God and His Son, Jesus Christ, that states that we can have Eternal Life and live eternally with our families and other loved ones. What a beautiful comfort this can be to all of us, to know that someday we can renew our companionship with him. Connel loved spending time with his family and friends more than anything in this world, the only things that might have even come close, were his love of riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and enjoying a round of golf. Connel, aka “Red”, as his co-workers affectionately called him, was a life long truck driver and for most of his life he traveled the highways and byways of Canada and the United States to make his living. He most recently worked for a company called XTL Transport and made many friends there, he was very well liked by all. If you’re ever driving on the highway and see a semi truck with an XTL logo on it, we hope you will think of Connel and smile. Connel was loved greatly by his family, which includes: His parents, Bryan and Patricia Whitehead (both deceased) His children & Grandchildren: - Tom (Brianne) Whitehead Addie & Ava - Serena Whitehead (deceased) - Nicole (Ryan) Prescott Spring & Willow - Shelina Prescott His siblings: - Heather (Rod) Navratil - Jackie (Rick) Thornhill - Annette (Gord) Hunter - Cheryl (Dave) Whitehead - Brother-in-Law David Thornhill His nieces & nephews: - Curtis (Leslie) Navratil - Stephen Navratil - Jason Navratil - Terry Thornhill (deceased) - Tisha Gilbert - Jessica (Chris) Dick - Amanda (Chris) Van Meer - Leonard Hunter - Brandy (Simon) Labelle - Jordan (Robyn) Hunter His special friend, Debra Kindt (Mother to Tom and Serena) Many great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. As a family, we would like to thank all of the medical and pharmaceutical professionals who worked with Connel over the past several years who tried to see if together they might be able to resolve some of the medical issues he was facing. We would also like to thank all of the emergency services people that came to his aid on the day that he was called to return to our Heavenly home. Your efforts were very much appreciated. And so, we will mourn the loss of this good man, but only for a short time, because even though he loved life, he was prepared and felt ready to continue on with his eternal progression, to meet that God who sent him here and to be reunited with his dearly departed loved ones. Connel will always be in our hearts, forever remembered.. A memorial service will be held at a later date, once Covid restrictions have been lifted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements in Care of Snodgrass Funeral Home Okotoks 403-938-3111.

Connel was a great brother. I was like his brother that he didn’t have in many ways. We played hockey and football when we were younger. I wasn’t very good at hockey but I could throw and kick the football pretty good so he liked having me on his team. Connel was quite a... Continue Reading

Connel was a great nephew, he would phone and chat quite often, or we would go out for lunch. He had a great and weird sense of humour and we laughed a lot at the same jokes. I will miss him. Love you 😍
