Margaret Rose Mizia, 58, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 1:58 a.m, Friday, January 15, 2021 in Northwest Health La Porte. She was born July 4, 1962, in Gary, IN, to Louie and Jeanette (Walker) Holmes. Margaret was a Chalk Couture Consultant and enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping, fishing, boating, cooking and eating. She loved motorcycles, riding and making homemade wine. Margaret was also an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Bears fan. On May 20, 2000, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Michigan City, she married the love of her life, Mark Mizia, who survives. Also surviving are her four children, Courtney Swank of Granger, IN, Lindsay (John-Michael) Whitfield of La Porte, Jacob (Tiffany) Swank of Mishawaka and David Stevens of Mishawaka; one sister; one brother; and four grandchildren. Preceding in death were her father, Louie Holmes; and father-in-law, Raymond Mizia. A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Bob Vale officiating.
