Blair Bowman “B.B.” Hanger, Jr., 96, of Arbor Hill passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021.
Mr. Hanger was born on August 29, 1924 in Arbor Hill to Blair Bowman and Lelia Clemmer Hanger.
He grew up on the family farm in Arbor Hill and graduated from Middlebrook High School. He served his country in the Army in World War II in the Phillipines and Japan.
B.B. was employed at the Augusta Cooperative Farm Bureau in Staunton and Waynesboro for 43 years. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in Middlebrook and a member of the Middlebrook Ruitan Club for over 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Lee (Jo Lee) Wood Hanger; daughter, Leanna Blair Hanger Davis and husband, James Timothy Davis, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; son, David Bowman Hanger and wife, Ava Swanlund Hanger of King George, Virginia; and five grandchildren, Bowman James Davis, Benjamin Wood Davis, Tyler Monroe Davis, Daniel Bowman Hanger, and Audrey JianFen Hanger.
Mr. Hanger was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Clemmer Hanger, Anna Virginia Hanger Price, Katherine Rachel Hanger Bailey, George Howard Hanger, Robert Eugene Hanger, and William Ray Hanger.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Lance Braun.
Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, Donald Hanger, Thomas Hanger, Steve Price, William Hanger, Phillip Hanger, Ted Hanger, and James Hanger
