James Amey Springdale, Arkansas Obituary

James Amey

James Leon Amey was born February 14, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA. He died one month before his 88th birthday. He passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, January 15th, 2021, at the Arkansas hospice house in Russellville, AR. James was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Amey and Ada Amey, both of Los Angeles, CA. James was the youngest of 10 children. He was the last surviving sibling. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara. James lovingly supported Clara during her fight with cancer and throughout her seven years on hospice. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Coleen Amey, and a step daughter, Jill Shorey, both of Russellville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews of various places. James was a modest, compassionate man, who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1970 and treasured his place among Jehovah’s people for over 50 years. He served as a elder in the congregation for decades. James supported his family as a carpenter. He enjoyed using his carpentry skills building and remolding Kingdom Halls. His fondest memories was serving as a Christian volunteer from 1975-1981 in Horse Cave, Kentucky. Helping to form a new congregation. It comforts us to know that James will never have to face “the Last Enemy death“ again (1 Corinthians 15:26). How reassuring to know that our Heavenly Father yearns to return him back to life again, by means of the resurrection (Job 14:15 )! The family would like to thank everyone for their loving support during this difficult time. There will be a private memorial Sunday, January 24th, at 3PM.
