Damon Rhoades Fillion

July 12, 1998 – January 14, 2021

 

It is with the most immense heartache that we announce the passing of our son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.  After a year-long fight against an illness that led to leukemia, Damon Rhoades Fillion passed away at Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre on the morning of Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 22 years. 

He attended Evergreen, HW Pickup and Frank Maddock schools and along the way, made many, many great friends. He was always there for them, and they were there for him. In addition to the time he spent with friends, he absolutely loved his family, BMXing, gaming, golfing and was quite talented with the practical jokes.

Damon will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Arlin and Cathy Fillion; sister, Tanis Fillion; aunts and uncles, Brenda, Linda, Leslie (Reg) Watson, Chris (Troy) Watson, Keith Rowe, Chrissey Rowe, Mickey McIntosh and Dani (Jason) Wright; grandparents, John and Shirley Fillion, and Velma Rowe; lots and lots of cousins, his fur buddies, Zoe, Joey, Shakira and Spooky; his spider Slash and his most valuable and precious friends, Bradley, Mac, Jordan, Hunter, Dalice and Aaron.

Damon is predeceased by his papa, Harold Rowe, as well as by Lamie and Bumps McIntosh. 

Relatives and friends are invited to join Damon’s family for an informal time of remembrance at the Best Western, 2252 50 Street, Drayton Valley on Saturday, January 23, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. In keeping with Covid-19 protocol, please ensure masks are worn, social distance is kept and hand sanitizer is used.  

Damon’s family would like to express their appreciation to the entire team at Malone Clinic and the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for the wonderful care provided to Damon, and for making him feel safe and comfortable during his time spent there.    

For those who so desire, memorial contributions in Damon’s name may be made directly to the Drayton Valley Health Foundation’s Palliative Care Campaign.
