Obituary

Our beloved Mary passed away peacefully at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, after a lengthy illness. Mary’s life began in Edmonton, firstborn to Richard (Dick) and Judith (Carter) Ryan. The early years were spent in Calgary and Edmonton. Mary was creative, artistic, free-spirited and a good writer. She was a calligrapher and often did invitations and other projects that called for beautiful penmanship. Mary was a fan of anything Pink Floyd, Stephen King, or The Beatles. Baseball was her favourite sport. And she loved her cats and dogs.

Since 1974, Calgary was her home. From 1987 - 1995, Mary was married to James Galandy. As avid motorcyclists, they toured around Western Canada. During her career,  Mary worked at Northern Telecom, where she first met Sheldon Jamieson. For several years, she was a Teacher’s Aid in special education classrooms. In her early forties, following a prolonged illness and treatment, Mary studied to become a Health Care Aid. She was employed at Rockyview Hospital until she retired in 2013.

Mary will be sadly missed by her partner Sheldon Jamieson, her mother Judith Ryan, her siblings Richard Ryan (Kimberley), Robert Ryan (Lloy), Lise Brown, Rachel Ryan (Spencer), special friends David and Wendy Cairns,  also her nieces and nephews Justin, Meaghan, Paige, Katherine, Adam, Amy, Morgan, Nichelle, Kelsie, Jessica, and Kane.

We wish to sincerely thank the kind and caring staff at Rockyview Hospital for the exceptional care given generously to Mary during difficult times.  We are forever grateful.
