William Jack Capell Obituary

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, William Jack Capell, who was born in Calhoun Falls, S.C. and raised in Greenwood, S.C., returned home to be with the Lord.

Jack was born on November 27, 1935 to the late Harvey Simpson Capell Sr. and Sarah Jones Capell. He was the brother to Lee C. of Winston Salem, North Carolina and the late Harvey S., Jr. of Lexington, S.C. Jack is survived by his children Jeannine Marie Lenehan and her husband Daniel Patrick of Vineyard Haven, MA; Donna Lynn Absi of Brockton, MA; and William Jack Capell, Jr. and his wife Ann-Elizabeth of Midlothian, TX. Jack was the husband to the late Louise Medwar Capell and the late Betty Jean Hicks Capell. He was grandfather to Julianne and Sean Lenehan; Chloe, Dylan and Halle Absi; and to William Jack III and Georgia Capell; and great-grandfather to Landon Absi. Jack was also a loving brother-in-law, cousin, and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Jack earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1958 and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1965. He worked at Harris ASW Division of General Instruments in Westwood, MA and for Seabeam Instruments of Walpole, MA where he was the inventor of Signal Processing System Method for use in Multibeam Sensing Systems. Seabeam Instruments specialized in the design, supply and support of submarine acoustic transducers and arrays. His invention is a system and technique for reducing the effective beam width of a receive beam for a sensing system, for example a sonar or radar system.

Jack was a man of faith and a member of St. John of Damascus Church in Dedham during his time Massachusetts and the First United Methodist Church during his time in Midlothian, TX.

Jack traveled the world over, but he was most happy at home with family watching his beloved Clemson Tigers and caring for his dog Maverick and his horse Windy.

The family would like to thank Bose Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, TX and the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home in West Roxbury, MA for their help in bringing their father and grandfather to Boston where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife Louise.

The family will host an intimate open house of family and friends in Texas to remember Jack. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Jack's Funeral Services will be private.  The family has taken into account the current health crisis and appreciates your understanding.
