Jeanette Kenny (nee Mucha) passed away on January 4, 2021 and her husband Eugene Kenny passed away January 13, 2021; they succombed to COVID 19. They were beloved parents of Christine (the late Michael) Kenny-Sheputis, the late Jonathan (Anne Foley)Kenny, Eugene Jr. (Julie) Kenny, Mary (Don Newberry) Hanessian, Jeffrey (Lisa) Kenny, Linette (Todd O’Shields) Jensen; devoted grandparents of Timothy, Michael, John, Bryan, Martin, Joe, Geno, Justin, Veronica, Laura, Rebecca, Denise, Caitlin, Patrick, Ellen, Owen, David and Charlotte; cherished great grandparents of David, Kylie, Graham, Teagan, Laila Mae, Dylan, Amyra, Myniah, Valentine, Jackson, Ford, Cole, Adara, Cesia, Isaac, Noelle, Van, and like grandparents to Caitlin Hennessy and Jemiah Funches; proud aunt and uncle of many. <br><br>Their lives were focused on family, faith, and work. Jeanette created a beautiful home for her family filled with handmade baked goods, plants, pets and a yard filled with flowers and vegetables. She devoted herself to teaching her children every evening on her velvet loveseat, as well as a substitute teaching at their school St. Albert the Great. She taught CCD classes and served as secretary of the Religious Education program for a number of years, then served as accountant for the parochial school. Eugene began his lifelong career on the railroad at age 14 with the Pennsylvania Railroad, then the Penn-Central, and finally with Conrail. He served as treasurer and grievance officer for his chapter of the United Transportation Union, local 1398. After his retirement 30yrs ago he became president of the St Vincent DePaul Society, serving the poor and struggling members of their community, with Jeanette at his side. Both Gene and Jeanette were Eucharistic Ministers at St. Albert the Great, the church they attended for over 65yrs. Jeanette served as Sacristan and Minister of Care, bringing the Eucharist to church members in the hospital or at their homes. Gene was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as Church Usher. Their home continued to be a gathering place for their family, a place filled with memories and love.<br><br>Visitation will be on Friday, January 15th, 2021 from 3 to 8 PM at Lawn Funeral Home 7909 State Road (5500 W) Burbank, IL 60459. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, January 16th at 10:30am at St. Albert the Great Church 8000 S. Linder Ave, Burbank, IL 60459. Interment will directly follow the Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 4001 111th St. The funeral Mass will be available for viewing through the Lawn Funeral Home website, lawnfh.com. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Albert the Great Conference or American Parkinson’s Association, adpaparkinson.org. Due to the current health guidelines, we are limited to 10 attendees at a time for visitation. We kindly ask that you quickly exit the funeral home after paying your respects to the family so that all visitors have an opportunity to enter. Masks and proper social distancing are required. The coffee lounge is not available for use, so please refrain from bringing food into the funeral home.
