A public visitation, following MN State Covid Guidelines, for Cody Rothenberger of Roseau will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 4-7 PM, with a 7:00 Prayer Service, at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. A private funeral will follow at a later date with interment at Malung Cemetery. Services will be recorded and posted on this site.

Cody Lee Rothenberger, age 36, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2021 at his home in Badger, MN. He was born on October 9, 1984 to Wayne and Rhonda (Grindahl) Rothenberger and grew up in Roseau, MN where he graduated from high school in 2003. Cody worked with his brother and best friend, Charlie, doing construction in Idaho before returning to Minnesota where he graduated from Alexandria Technical College with a Welding Degree in 2008. He worked for CASE in Fargo before coming home to Roseau to weld at Polaris and eventually became a forklift operator.

A dedicated father, Cody raised his son Conor with his family, creating so many cherished memories.   They fell in love with Sara (Norstebon) Rothenberger and her children, Jordan and Mason, and were joined in marriage on August 24, 2019 on the lake with their families. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, family and friendships.

Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. Coaching the kids in sports, teaching them to hunt, play hockey, and the importance of hard work was Cody’s pride and joy. He was also a devoted husband and adored his wife, Sara. They took in many concerts, fished the river, made trips to the lake, and spent time with friends. Cody loved time with his nephews, trail riding with his brother, being at hunting camp with family, enjoying his mom’s food, and cutting wood with his dad as a part of his everyday life. Family always came first in his life, and they will be forever blessed by his commitment to them.

If you spent any amount of time in their home you would know that foosball is a serious sport and it’s the center of the living room. The foosball battles over the years were epic, and the kids have become serious competitors. Cody was incredibly proud as Conor recently overtook the throne as the Champion! The amount of adrenaline, laughter, and lessons learned around the table will be cherished throughout their lives.

Cody is survived by his wife, Sara Rothenberger, son Conor, step-children Jordan and Mason Scharf, parents Wayne and Rhonda Rothenberger, brother Charlie & Ashley (Bahr) Rothenberger and nephews Harlie and Blayde, father and mother in laws Darrell and Mary (Kempenich) Norstebon and so many other family and friends. He will remain forever in their hearts.
