Linda Murray passed away at Arlington Memorial Hospital on January 9, 2021 from complications from Covid. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, January 23rd at 10 a.m. Because the health and safety of family and friends is top priority, face masks will be required and the church will be adhering to social distancing protocols. As an alternative to attending the mass in person, the service will be available to watch live through the Most Blessed Sacrament Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/MBSArlington Linda was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 11, 1943 to Lionel and Yvonne Thivierge. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic High School in Brooklyn and secretarial school before starting her career in New York City. On September 18, 1965, she married the love of her life, Mike, and in June of 1966, they welcomed their first son, Michael, at which time she put her career on hold. A few years later, in March of 1970, their twins - a son and daughter- Brian and Laura, were born. Shortly after the twins arrived, the family moved to Houston, Texas where they lived for 6 years before eventually settling in Arlington in 1976. Once Brian and Laura started school, Linda resumed her career by taking a job at their school, Roquemore Elementary. This allowed her to be close to and on the same schedule as her children. When the twins left Roquemore, she left her position as school secretary and went to work at Sky Chefs. There, she made numerous friends and was always a kind and friendly face through its numerous ownership changes and challenges in the airline industry. Linda worked at Sky Chefs until her retirement in 2002. As an active parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament, Linda served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered with Mike in the church’s hospital and nursing home ministries. She also cared for others through delivering food for Meals on Wheels, fundraising with the Salvation Army and serving the community as a polling place volunteer. Linda was extremely social and she never met a stranger - always seeking the good in others and making them feel loved. Her laugh was contagious and her optimism was unwavering. She livened up even the most mundane occasions and she enjoyed games of all sorts. Linda especially loved playing cards and treasured the friends she made in her card groups. In addition, Linda enjoyed traveling with Mike and meeting people all over the world. She was also a huge fan of musical theatre and was often singing along with a musical soundtrack...most recently Hamilton. An exceptional wife and mother who was completely devoted to her family, Linda was always there when they needed her. In 1997, she was promoted to her favorite job, Grandma. Linda embraced her new title with enthusiasm, wisdom and unconditional love for her 12 grandkids. From changing diapers and hosting Grandma Camp to school plays, concerts, art fairs and athletic events, Grandma loved encouraging and cheering for each one of them. Linda was preceded in death by her parents as well as her beloved husband of 54 years, who she selflessly cared for in their home until he succumbed to Alzheimer’s in October of 2019. She is survived by her son Michael and wife Karen of Westlake; son Brian and wife Diana of North Richland Hills; daughter Laura Brown and husband Larry of Mansfield. Grandchildren - Alec and wife Kendall, Dylan and Emma Murray; Isabel, Olivia, Zoe and Ian Murray; Conner and Carsen Clark; Cassidy and Keely Brown. Great Grandchild - Ryker Rose Brown. In addition, she is also survived by her brother, Lee Thivierge, of Arlington and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda’s family would like to thank the heroes at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital who bravely and lovingly cared for her when the family was not allowed to be by her side during her fierce battle with Covid. To celebrate Linda in her typical fun-loving fashion, the family will be planning a Celebration of Life Party later in the year once the Covid vaccine is more widely distributed and the risks of social interactions have lessened.
