Marshall Carr Obituary

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply, becomes a part of us.”

Today we pause to pay tribute to the life, love and spirit of our beloved, Marshall Carr, who began his journey through life on Wednesday, June 24, 1936. He was born in South Hill, Virginia to the parentage of the late Ed and Lucinda Atkins Carr.

‘Uncle Mars, Jr.’, as we affectionately called him, attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools System of Virginia. Being reared in a Christian home, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior, at an early age and united in fellowship with the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Macon, North Carolina. Spending quality time with his family and friends, brought him great joy. He loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed a good laugh and possessed many characteristics that could easily brighten up anyone’s day.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God made for me. I took his hand when I heard him call; Then turned, and bid farewell to all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to sing, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found my peace... at close of day. And if my parting left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened... deep with sorrow I wish you sunshine of tomorrow My life’s been full I’ve savoured much Good friends, good times A loved one’s touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now... He set me free on Wednesday, January 13, 2021; while in the care of Rich Square Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rich Square, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he now reunites with his siblings, Hubert, Archie, James and Herbert Carr and Elizabeth Carr Edwards, who have preceded him in death.

May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear, how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here. We who remain that continue to whisper to heaven words of love and remembrance as we pass him to God’s keeping and care are: a host of nieces and nephews; a loving niece, Gwendolyn Edwards; a caring great-nieces, Cassie Edwards; a special great, great-nephew, Caleb Warren; a special great, great-niece, Annalise Wright all of the home; other relatives and friends.
