Shirley Ann Diggs
<p>Shirley Ann Funk Diggs, 80, of Christiansburg, Virginia went to be with our Lord on January 10, 2021. She was born in Rowlesburg, WV on September 17, 1940 to the late Dora Beatrice Funk and Eugene Richard Funk. Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 49 years, Donald Sherman Diggs, whom she married on October 29, 1965 and passed on May 16, 2014. </p> <p>Shirley is survived by her two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her family includes daughter Christine Porterfield, son-in-law Curt Porterfield, and grandchildren Derek and wife Brittany, and great-grandchildren Trenton, Lyla, Judah, and Elijah of Fredericksburg, VA; Alyssa Porterfield East and husband Jacob of Lynchburg, VA, and Landon of Newport, VA; and daughter Susan Runfola and son-in-law Chad Runfola, and grandchildren Spencer and Silvana of Ashburn, VA. She is also survived by nine brothers and sisters including Flora Adeline Funk Pyles of Kingwood, WV; Margaret Elisa Funk Friend of Crozet, VA; Harry Richard Funk of Rush Springs, OK; Dorothy Marie Funk Boyer of Cumberland, MD; Edna Louise Funk Cramer of Terra Alta, WV; Mary Virginia Funk Thiel of Rowlesburg, WV; Michael Allen Funk of Rowlesburg, WV; David Junior Funk of Rush Springs, OK; and Charles William Funk of Marlow, OK.</p> <p>Shirley graduated with the class of 1959 from Rowlesburg High School in Rowlesburg, WV and Catherman’s Business College in Cumberland, MD. She retired after 33 years of service from Radford</p> <p>Army Ammunition Plant and continued working at Dr. Raymond Dyer, Jr., family physician, Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office, and J.C. Penney Company. Shirley also was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.</p> <p>The family will receive friends on January 16, at 12:30 p.m. at Burke Funeral Home, 24 Chestnut Street, Rowlesburg, WV (www.burkefuneralhomewv.com), with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Red Rock Cemetery in Macomber, WV beside her mother and father. </p>September 17, 1940 - January 10, 202109/17/194001/10/2021
