Mary Elizabeth Smith Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Smith, age 81, of Plainfield, IN went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2021. She passed peacefully with family at her bedside in the comfort of her own home. Born August 16, 1939 to Charles and Lillie Susan Fitzpatrick Smith, she was one of eight children born in West Virginia. She served in the United States Navy and worked in Naval Avionics in Indiana. She was a fierce Christian, loved animals with a passion and never hesitated to share her strong opinions and beliefs. Her favorite men were snowmen and her beloved Eddie bird. She had the mouth of a sailor and the biggest heart of gold. She is survived by her son Nickolas Lapasnick, daughters Suzanne Peters, Lori Lapasnick, Paula Jines, son-in laws Howard Jines, Don Riggs and her late son-in-law Larry Peters, grandsons Dylan Jines and Chris Jines, granddaughters Anna Murphy, Brittany Mason, Melissa Rachels and Tiffany Jines, granddaughter-in-law Felicia Jines, and great grandchildren Trenten Roger, Trevor Lee, Jace, Wyatt, Dakota, Serenity, Olivia and Jack.

Parting comments from each of her children:

Nick, “I’ll see you up there.” Sue, “The most strong and wise woman I have ever known.”

Paula, “You give me courage.”

Lori and Don, “Mom was always happy and witty, which made her so fun to be around. She always seemed to know what was in everyone’s heart and set us back on our right path. She was a lady with integrity and home for us kids.”

From her sweetest Trenten, “I love you dearly Nana. I could never ask for a greater great grandmother.”
