Lana Lorraine Morlan Obituary

Lana L. Morlan, 71, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 after a tragic fire at her home of 46 years.
With her husband Carl, Lana raised their two daughters there and two of their grandchildren from the ages of four and ten after the tragic loss of their daughter, Heather. It was a home always full of laughter, music and dancing around. Many of Lisa’s childhood friends have reached out and said how her home felt like “everyone’s home”. Others said, “Your parents were all of our parents and treated us all like one of their kids”. “I always felt safe at your house”. “We could actually talk to your mom and she listened”. A nephew said, “Aunt Lana was my go-to person growing up. I knew I could always just stop by and she would listen. Even when I was in trouble!”. Another said, “Aunt Lana was always a rock of good spirit and laughter.”
Lana was born April 15, 1949 in Akron to the late Bill and Bertha Hitchings and was a lifelong area resident. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Morlan, in 1969. They had been together since they were 16yrs old. She was a happy, fun, amazing mother raising her girls. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Lana loved music and went to many rock concerts with her close group of friends. She was an amazing oil painter and fortunately we were able to save a few of her paintings from the fire. She was an excellent cook and her famous cabbage rolls will never be forgotten.
Lana will be remembered by many for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She opened her home to so many through the years. If you needed her, she was there, and you were instantly family.
In addition to her parents, Lana was preceded in death by her husband Carl; daughter Heather; and brother Richard Hitchings. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lisa (Tom) Kane; grandchildren Montana, Devin, Sofia and Blake; brothers Bob and Bill Hitchings, and many friends and family members.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date due to the COVID pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a college fund for Lana's granddaughter Montana c/o the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S Main St, Akron OH 44301.
