<p>Betty L. “Bets” Beal, 92, of Somerset formerly of Friedens, died Jan. 13, 2021 at The Patriot. Born Sept. 8, 1928 in Somerset, daughter of Alfred Sr. and Marian (Shaffer) Phillips. Preceded in death by parents, husband Charles L. “Bud” Beal Sr., infant daughter Colleen, brothers: Floyd, Clyde, and Alfred Jr., and sisters: Dorothy and Hazel Phillips. Survived by children: Debra married to Barry Fitzgerald, Somerset, Charles Jr. married to the former Susan Stahl, Friedens, Brenda married to Kim Welker, Somerset; granddaughter: Ashley (Beal) married to Mike McCluskey; step granddaughter Amy Welker; step great granddaughter Kathryn Ferguson; sister-in-law Kathryn Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Shanksville Stonycreek High School. Member of Mostoller United Methodist Church. She was an avid musician, who enjoyed playing and singing with her husband in several country bands. Her faith and family were the most important things in her life, especially her love of her granddaughter. She had a selfless generosity. The family would like to thank The Patriot staff for all their care. A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Pastor Joseph Caola officiating. Interment Somerset Co. Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Mostoller U.M.C., 549 Pompey Hill Rd., Stoystown, PA 15563. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
