Gladys C. Boinski, age 88, of Port Edwards, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday January 19, 2021 at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Port Edwards. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the South Wood County Food Pantry or South Wood County Humane Society. The Boinski family plans a further celebration at a later date. Gladys was born January 16, 1932 in Wisconsin Rapids to John and Josephine (Senn) Arendt. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Marshfield. She married Lawrence Boinski on September 4, 1954 in Wisconsin Rapids. He died October 25, 2015. Gladys was a long time Registered Nurse at Edgewater Haven until her retirement. In earlier years she was a nurse at Riverview Hospital. Gladys was a long time member of St. Alexander Catholic Church where she was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and was formerly a lector. She loved singing, traveling to visit relatives, her six cats and camping. She is survived by two daughters Connie Kassera of Port Edwards and Sue (Gary Steck) Boinski of Gainesville, FL and by three grandchildren Lea Boinski, Victor Steck and Rosie Steck. Gladys was preceded in death her husband; parents step mother Helen Arendt; infant sister Marion Arendt and two brothers Dr. Charles (Helen) Arendt and Dr. Norbert (Evelyn) Arendt.
