Royal E Womochil

Royal "Buzz" Womochil, 90, a life-long resident of Dickinson County, passed away January 14, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born June 19, 1930 in rural Abilene, the son of Roy and Vivian (Sleichter) Womochil. He attended the local rural school districts and graduated from Abilene High School in 1948. On May 15, 1953 Royal was united in marriage to Dona Cormack. They had two children, Sandra Lynn and Michael Roy. Dona preceded him in death on November 15, 1957. He remarried on August 5, 1988 to Rose Meuli who passed away in July of 2001. Royal was a farmer in the Navarre and Buckeye communities. He also was a soil contractor for most of his adult life, working in Dickinson, Saline, Ottawa, Marion and Geary counties. He worked on the construction of Cedar Bluffs Reservoir along with soil and water projects in Cimarron and Syracuse Kansas. He is survived by his son, Mike Womochil (Julie) of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Sandra Bray (David) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three grandchildren, Lauren Ripko, Michael Womochil and Jordan Womochil. Three great-grandchildren, Krosby, Finnegan and Cormak, his sister, Rowean Nelson and brother, Sheldon "Pete" Womochil. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Donna, and second wife Rose. The community is invited to join the family at graveside services for Royal on January 29, 1:00p.m. at the Abilene City Cemetery in Abilene. Family suggests memorials can be given to the Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
